YTAS Next Generation Programme 2025-2026

I’m excited to announce that I’ve been selected as one of twelve participants to join the 2025–2026 cohort of the Next Generation Programme, run by Youth Theatre Arts Scotland (YTAS).

The Next Generation Programme is a year-long professional development initiative run by Youth Theatre Arts Scotland (YTAS), designed to support emerging theatre practitioners, especially those working or wanting to work with young people. It combines practical work, training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to help participants grow creatively and professionally within Scotland’s youth theatre sector.

Through this programme, I’m excited to develop my artistic practice, collaborate with other Scotland-based creatives, connect with youth theatre providers, and contribute to the continued growth of Scotland’s arts and youth theatre sectors. I spent most of my childhood in youth theatre environments, so I'm very excited for this opportunity!

Over the next year, I’ll be working closely with my cohort of creatives to develop my creative practice while gaining professional knowledge and skills in youth theatre work and facilitation. The programme includes a series of in-person and online workshops, as well as a residential weekend led by YTAS and other experienced practitioners.

I’ll have the opportunity to work with different youth theatre providers in Scotland throughout the year, and bring my own creative practice into youth theatre spaces, allowing me to continue to grow as both an artist and facilitator.

Through the programme, I will also be completing an SCQF Level 3 Qualification in Youth Work with a focus on youth theatre work and facilitation.

The Next Generation Programme is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland ‘Young Start’, The Robertson Trust, The Birkdale Trust for Hearing Impaired, The Scottish Children’s Lottery and The Hedley Foundation.
